So Glad I Went

Yesterday was a hard day for me to get going.  It had snowed overnight. I stayed up late the night before, so I was tired. Our church doesn't begin until 1:00.  There were plenty of reasons, in my mind, to skip church.  The thing is that Mia just turned 12 and she was really excited to go to Young Women's. We won't be in our ward next week because my nephew just came home from his mission and we will be in his ward listening to him speak.

I went down to wake Mia up and see how she was feeling about going to church.  I woke her and asked if she was excited about going and she had a few complaints, similar to mine.  =)  I said, "So you don't want to go?"  She sat up and said, "My head only hurts a little bit and I am sure my eye will feel better. I don't need to miss church." (I love this girl so much!) I clarified, because I still wasn't really feeling it, and asked, "so you want to go to church?"  She said yes so we both went our separate ways and started getting ready for church.

Our ward has the Young Women come in for opening exercises on Fast Sunday so Mia got to come in with me.  When the women and Young Women in the Relief Society Room stood together and recited the Young Women Theme, I was overcome with the love my Heavenly Father has for me.  I have been struggling a bit and it was just what I needed.  It was overwhelming for me to feel so strongly that my Heavenly Father knows who I am and that he loves me.

We then proceeded to have a beautiful lesson on a talk by Sister Tanner called Daughters of Heavenly Father. Oh, how I needed to be in that Relief Society room listening to those words.  I feel lifted up and strengthened. "Heavenly Father knows you and loves you. You are His special daughter. He has a plan for you."

I was so happy to read this. I am a newly sustained RS President! Yikes. I love having the YW in with us once a month for opening to hear them recite their theme. We have sweet sisters who really take care of eachother, in our ward. I am always so impressed with their service. Thanks for sharing!
