Bitter Sweet

Today was Jared's first day of second grade. He was really excited because he wanted to see what books he would read.

He got to wear his new backpack and finally wear the shirt he has tried to wear every day for nearly a month.

He waited outside the school for the doors to open.

Was delighted to see on of his friend from First Grade, Josh, is in his class.

Then it was time for his teacher, Ms. Casperson to come out and get the students. She was so cute and shook hands with her whole class, welcoming them to Second grade.

It was a little rougher for me having Jared in Second Grade than it was last year when he went to First. He was really excited and I tried to not let him know how reluctant I was to send him.

Now, I can't wait until school is over and I can hear all about his first day in Second Grade!

Awww. Isn't it sad when you're more sad that they're going than they are? Gabe kept saying, "bye MOM! BYE, you can go now".

I guess it is a good sign that they are confident enough with who they are, that they are excited to explore the world? That is what I keep telling myself.
