A Party for Ellis

We celebrated Ellis' birthday yesterday because Seth didn't get back in town until yesterday afternoon.

I made these cookie monster cupcakes. Ellis liked them. He calls them "Elmo Monster Cupcakes", followed by a very cute RAWR.

Grandma and Grandpa came. It is so fun to see how happy they were that Ellis loved his little $.10 phone/calculator. He likes to stick it in his shirt and ask me where the phone is.

Our friends and neighbors handed two cars down to us. These were the hit of the night. It was nice of them to give us 2 so that the boys wouldn't fight over them. Ellis was so funny. He wanted to go a lot faster than he could propel himself so he would make some random noise and one of the older kids would run over to give him a push.

The strangest thing happened, Ellis went to the doctor on Tuesday and got his shots. The whole day on Tuesday he just wanted me to carry him around. When he got up on Wednesday, he was really limping and he would cry if he was standing. None of the other kids ever limped even the day of getting shots. He was just fine during his party and has been since. I don't know if it was because he remembered the pain and was limping from that memory, or if he was really still in pain.

Gordon also got shots and he didn't cry at all. He was just looking forward to getting a band aid. I was so proud of him.

Those cupcakes are adorable!

Lester likes to give the boys a warm bath and a massage the day of and the day after they get shots. The medicine going into the muscles can make them really achy. Just like a good workout. They need something to help move the medicine/pain out.

I guess there is a reason that they suggest massages when they give the shot, huh?
